Austin - Quick get-a-way

We decided to take a quick, fun family trip to Austin this past weekend.....stayed in a nice hotel right downtown, (and although mommy is quite pregnant...) walked across Congress St. bridge and saw the bats, walked around the Texas campus and the drag, hung out at the Oasis on Lake Travis, shot a few pics at the Capital, and did a lot of INTERESTING people watching (ask us later about the dude in the cheerleading outfit - who had great legs, by the way) .....Chasey even got his first 'Keep Austin Weird' T-shirt from Chuy's - Funny that our 21 month old is wearing a statement he has absolutely no understanding of. We had such a great time- and we will definitely go back year after year.....

Loss of a dear friend

This week, I lost a dear comrade and mentor of 11 years, Jim Schweizer. He was killed in a motorcycle accident while he vacationed in Idaho. Jim was the first person I worked for in a corporate setting back in 1997 at MCN Energy - hired me with not much more than a hunch...we kept in touch through the years although we went our seperate ways....until 2006 when he called with an opportunity to work together again for Dart Oil & Gas Corporation as they were going to open a Ft Worth office. I, of course, accepted. Jim was a loyal man, with a sweet soul and a hard head....the self proclaimed 'bull in a china shop.' I will miss him so very much.

Dance! July 28, 2008

Here is Chasey's latest, and very low key, dance video...Chase has learned our real names, and has decided that Mike and I are to be called 'Mike' and 'Immie' instead of mommy & daddy these days....This too will pass, I suppose.

July 15, 2008 - Dallas gets rain!

And Chasey decided to play in it. Daddy has been out of town - Washington, Oregon, Wyoming.... and is now in Canada.....we miss you daddy!!! So we decided to post a few pics to show you that Chase is working hard taking care of your lawn...

July 11th, 2008- Strawberry eating, Eye-making Chase Pic of Chasey giving mommy the head down, eyes up "oh no you di ' int' look during breakfast.

Chase decided this morning to climb out of a play-yard mommy briefly placed him in while posting his pics online....fell straight to the floor (only about 2 1/2 feet), stunned and crying. Needless to say mommy was initially shocked and horrified to see he had escaped. However, all is well with our little tank.

4th of July 2008!

We had such a great time in Forney, TX at Todd's parents' beautiful home. Grace and Chase fell in love all over again....and the fireworks were literally panoramic. We love ya'll -

'Read a Book'- June 19th, 2008

After his bath and as we were winding down for bed this evening, Chase was referencing and pointing to (his favorite) the scratchy-sniffy book NaNa & Papa gave him in April....I grabbed the book and said 'OK, let's go to your room and read a book.'

As we made our way down the hall towards his room, a sweet smelling and smiley Chase remarked 'READ A BOOK'

Needless to say, I swooped him up, kissing him and praising his new words.....I was so proud of him....first, we called daddy, as daddy was out of town, and daddy giggled as he heard those three very clear words - then we called as many family members as we could so our little sparkler could utter this new phrase....before he konked out for bed at 8 p.m.
