Emily almost 7 months- our little sweet soul
She's totally cruising in her walker...and shaking her head 'yes' and 'no' and responds appropriately to the word 'kiss'. Giggles NON stop at brother and will probably crawl very soon- she's scooting everywhere. She just loves to hear music and singing....is an early riser (no surprise here) and has a killer smile and a contagious, deep laugh. Oh, and she has curls....more and more....where did THAT come from? Love them.

Chase's new gig
Rat story....ONE year ago.... what a great laugh
Many of you may remember Chase's 'rat' story from May of last year ....we think it's worthy of republishing the email we sent out regarding the 'situation'..... good read and a laugh. : ) Seems like a lifetime ago already.
"Okay, I'm straightening up a bit this morning, and let Chase out into the backyard to play- when he comes into the house saying 'Mommy, Mommy, this'....now, the sun is shining directly into the window, so all I see is a shadow of his little body coming towards me, left arm held high with something in it.....when he gets within about 2 feet of me, I see he is carrying a rat, by it's tail!!!! (I have no idea if it is dead or alive at this point) I jump straight up about 5 feet into the air and begin screaming bloody murder- begging to him to drop what he has....so now, he begins to cry and (still holding onto his prize) is now running towards me even faster because I have scared him and he wants me to hold him...... I'm afraid to go any closer to him because I have no idea when he will launch this rat (is it alive or is it dead???) at me, so I try desperately to calm down and say, 'Chasey, just throw that down, throw it over there (as I point to another direction) '
He finally throws this rat clear across our living room (thank goodness it didn't end up on our couch) and I scoop him up hugging him like we had just survived some major catastrophe....and I threw him in the kitchen sink and washed him up as quickly and well as I could.
Sheesh - It was all of about 45 seconds of action, butneedless to say, this practically gave me a heart attack and almost sent me into early labor...... our son is all-boy that's for sure. "

Chasey and sister
I've mentioned before that Chase can do NO WRONG in Emily's eyes....she laughs at him when he sings the ABCs. He does this crazy head shaking thing, in the car and at home, and she just laughs at him like it's the funniest thing she's ever seen.....My only worry is that he's going to shake his little brain loose!
Now, of course, this particular incident was going on for MUCH longer than I actually recorded. It always takes me a few minutes to get out of the moment of enjoying what's going on, and get to actually recording it. The one part you will not see in this video is Chase leaning towards his sister, holding her cheeks and giving her a sweet smooch. Gosh I wish I had captured that.
Going to include another video from another time as well. The laughing is just too delicious- truly soul food. I never understood the way parents would mention the heaven in their 'children laughing' - until I had my own.
Enjoy - as we always do.

March 2009- Harris Family Pics and news
So much going on....Chasey (now 2 yrs and 4 months) is speaking in complete sentences (his articulation is amazing) and singing everything from his ABCs to Head-Shoulders-Knees and-Toes- he knows colors, shapes, he can count, he can spell his own name verbally, and he works on drawing circles and the number '1'.
Emily is strong as anything - rolling now (mostly) from back to belly and back again (with a little assistance)...I think her first word was 'Da' but I'll hold out for more proof... (ha ha) she almost says something that sounds like 'hi' and always has a precious smile anytime you look her in the eye- she is a truly sweet soul. She loves it when anyone sings to her, or in front of her (especially her brother, who can do no wrong in her eyes these days- however, see me again in 13 years.....)
Doggies are doing great. Pipey turns 7 on March 24th (I truly cannot believe this...I remember picking him out at 12 weeks old). Chiefy is back to digging big holes in the yard....probably trying to recover the bones he buried thru the years.... I'm running them a few miles at least 2-3x per week these days....and they get to the park at least once per week. Pipey seems to be slowing down and toning down a bit... which kinda makes me sad.
I'm back to teaching and working the floor at a couple of different places ....and Michael has been flying contract flights to keep things together... he has a few fabulous perm opportunities right now....just hoping one of these results in where he chooses to be next.
I am reminded this afternoon, as Pawpaw (Mike's dad) comes over to drop off items for our neighborhood garage sale and spends about 45 minutes with Chase reading and attempting to help me get him down for a nap, how blessed we are - these are not just little things. These are the moments that matter.

CHASEY - WORTH NOTING
Our son, Chase, has been reciting the alphabet, over and over, this evening. We are unbelievably proud of him.
